Overview

The Green Meadow application process is designed to help you learn more about Green Meadow Waldorf School and the uniqueness of Waldorf Education. Throughout the year, we offer a variety of informational admissions events, some designed just for parents, and others for parents and students.  These are wonderful opportunities to learn more about our philosophy, see our campus in action, and speak with our faculty and administrators.  For a complete schedule of upcoming events and dates, please go to our Admissions Events page.

The following is a general look at our application process.  For more specific information, please go the Application Process page under Early ChildhoodLower School or High School.

The first required step in the application process is an Introductory Session (for parents only). Our next Introductory Session will take place on Wednesday, July 7, at 9:30 am. To register for this date, or to set up another time to visit, please contact Admissions Coordinator, Patricia Owens, at powens@gmws.org or 845-356-9715.

1. Introductory Sessions

These two-hour, parents-only sessions include:

  • An informative video presentation on Waldorf Education and Green Meadow Waldorf School
  • A question and answer period
  • A tour of our campus  

2. Application

When applying for admission, please submit the following:

Applications may be submitted through the mail or in person at an enrollment event.

3. Orientation

After completing steps 1 and 2, we will contact you to schedule an Orientation.  During this session, our administrator will review essential school policies and guidelines.  We suggest that both parents attend this meeting.

4. Parent Interviews


Nursery/Kindergarten

Both parents must be present at the interview with an Early Childhood teacher. 

Lower School Grades 1-8

One parent (and, preferably, both) will attend an interview with the Class Teacher.

High School Grades 9-12

One parent (and, preferably, both) will attend an interview with the Class Advisors.
The student will meet with the Advisors on the day he/she visits the school.

5. School Visit

 

Nursery/Kindergarten

Following the parent interview, the child will be invited to participate in an afternoon playgroup.

Lower School Grades 1-8

Children applying for grades two through eight will be invited to spend at least one day visiting the class to which they are applying.

High School Grades 9-12
  • Students applying to the high school will be invited to attend classes for one day.
  • Students may be asked to complete short placement exercises in math and in English.

6. Admission Decision

Acceptance into the class is determined by the teachers in the section. This decision will be communicated in writing to the parents.

7. Financial Arrangements

  • Following acceptance, the Business Office will contact you to make financial arrangements for enrollment. New parents should be sure to inquire about tuition refund insurance.

8. Nursery/Kindergarten Class Assignment & First Grade Reception

  • Nursery and kindergarten parents receive a letter with information about their child’s teacher assignment during August.
  • Parents of incoming first graders are invited to a spring reception to meet the first grade class teacher.
