Foreign Exchange Program
One of the most exciting and popular programs Green Meadow High School has to offer is our three-to-five month Foreign Exchange Program for Green Meadow students and their counterparts in the tenth and eleventh grades. By tenth grade, students have usually achieved the level of language proficiency that will allow them to integrate successfully into another culture and school setting, enabling them to attain fluency in the language they have been studying. In addition to providing an excellent opportunity to strengthen their foreign language skills, the exposure to a different culture is an extremely valuable experience for adolescents. The fact that Waldorf Education is a worldwide movement enables us to offer this program.
Over the past 25 years we have been sending students to live with host families and attend sister Waldorf schools in France, Germany, Switzerland, Argentina, Chile and Peru. Students from these countries attend Green Meadow, living with host families in return. Therefore, we count on all participants experiencing both school and family environments that reflect Waldorf values and educational goals.
Visiting Foreign Student Program
Since Green Meadow has gained a worldwide reputation for excellence in Waldorf Education, our Foreign Exchange Program often has more inquiries from abroad than we are able to fill. As a result, we now offer these Waldorf students the chance to attend Green Meadow without the exchange component by boarding with a Green Meadow host family for up to a year. Both the Foreign Exchange Program and the Visiting Foreign Student Program enrich our entire school community.
