Overview of Parent Roles

At Green Meadow, education is a community event.  Along with our other community members - faculty, administration and staff – Green Meadow parents play a significant role in the life of the school and share in the enriching experience of Waldorf Education.

At Green Meadow, parents have the opportunity to act as Class Parents, serve on various development, social action and planning committees, organize fund-raising events, chaperone field trips, coach sports teams, join Parent Handwork, contribute to The Bulletin and sit on the Board of Trustees.  They foster discussion about school-related issues and communication among parents, administration and faculty by serving on the Parent Council, an important organization made up of delegates from all grades, kindergarten through twelfth.  Our parents are expected to support the school by making practical contributions to community-building activities.  They are invited to attend parent education lectures and events.  Most importantly, Green Meadow parents are expected to support the work of their child’s teacher by attending parent meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and by participating in an open exchange of communication.

While our parents are of diverse hometowns, backgrounds and professions, they are united by many common values and a shared interest in their children’s schooling.  At Green Meadow, not only do our students develop close and lasting relationships, but our parents, as well, appreciate community warmth, friendship and support.

For Green Meadow Parents

Parent Documents

The first thing I tell parents when they ask me about the school is that I have never met more caring, loving teachers, staff and administrators! The curriculum is rich and artfully flavored, and when you enter Green Meadow you enter a vibrant community much larger than just the school.
