Dear Parents,
Just as the Waldorf curriculum is different from those of other independent schools, the way that the Development Office functions here at Green Meadow is unique. Our core mission is to make a Waldorf education accessible to every family in our area that wants it.
To that end, the money raised by the Development Office supports Tuition Assistance and maintains the programs and facilities that set us apart. As a member of Green Meadow’s Diversity Committee, I am committed to maintaining and broadening our socio-economic and cultural diversity. We in the Development Office strive to create a mix of events and giving opportunities that allows every family in the school to participate.
People sometimes ask me why Green Meadow doesn’t have sliding-scale tuition. My response is that, by means of the Annual Fund, we do: we ask that each family give as much as they can afford each year to the Fund. In this way, some families give $20,000 extra per year and others give $10, helping to bridge the $1,500 gap between the tuition charged and the actual cost of each student’s education (a shortfall common to most independent schools). This "tax-free tuition" is urgently needed to help us keep the school thriving.
I am lucky to work closely the all-volunteer Development Committee, comprised of parents, alumni, and alumni parents. I invite you to join us at our meetings, which are open to all and listed on the Green Meadow calendar. Please contact me at 845-356-2514 x311 if you have questions or would like information about any of the Development Office’s initiatives. I welcome your input.
Sincerely,
Vicki Larson
