At Green Meadow, we recognize that the parenting journey begins as soon as you find out you are expecting. With so many questions presenting themselves during pregnancy, from how to eat to how to educate your child in the years to come, this can be a time when parents-to-be are searching for information and need extra support.
We often hear from current Green Meadow parents that they wish they had known about Waldorf Education, and the parenting support it offers, when their children were babies, and we are doing more than ever before to reach out to expectant parents with that in mind.
To support you and help you decide which parenting path you will choose, Green Meadow offers:
--a Parent Education Series that includes many events open to the public (such as talks on pregnancy and nutrition, discipline, sleep, literacy and early academics, and home-based remedies for common childhood illnesses, plus screenings of documentaries of special interest to parents, like Miss Representation and Race to Nowhere);
--Parent & Child classes for expectant parents and parents with babies and toddlers from birth to age three;
--Simplicity Parenting workshops, based on the popular book by Kim John Payne and led by certified Simplicity Parenting coaches; and
--family events like the annual Fall Fair that help you begin to build a community of like-minded parents and cultivate your family culture.
In the coming year, we plan to begin offering parenting support classes specifically for expectant parents and to work more closely with childbirth educators, midwives and doulas, and lactation consultants to offer programs tailored to the particular needs and interests of parents-to-be.
