Katie Ketchum, Admissions and Outreach Coordinator for Grades 1-12

BA, Development Studies, University of East Anglia, United Kingdom

Katie is originally from the United Kingdom, but has spent most of her life overseas, growing up in Zambia, Mozambique, and Ethiopia. She has lived in the US for 5 years. Her background is in Project Management for both the Governmental and Not-For-Profit sectors. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, eating good food, and playing with her two daughters. 

 

 

 

 

 

Vicki Larson, Director of Communications and Marketing

BA, English (cum laude), University of Florida; Certificate in Spanish-English Translation and Interpretation, Hunter College

Vicki served as Director of Development at Green Meadow from December 2007-April 2011. Prior to coming to the school, she spent seven years as Development Director at MADRE, an international women's human rights organization based in Manhattan. Originally from New Haven, CT, Vicki discovered Waldorf Education in college, when she worked in the After-School Program at the Waldorf School in Gainesville, FL. She serves on the Green Meadow Collegium and as Chair of the Diversity Committee. Her daughter attends the school. 


 

 

 

Averi Lohss, Development Assistant and Hospitality Coordinator

BA, German Studies (cum laude) from Lewis and Clark College, Portland, OR

Averi is a graduate of the Chicago Waldorf School, the Eurythmy Spring Valley four-year training, and the newest member of the Spring Valley Eurythmy Stage Group. During her Eurythmy training over the last four years, she organized and headed various fundraising events for the Eurythmy School and her class. She is also a German tutor and will begin teaching Eurythmy at various locations this year.

Lisa Miccio, Director of Early Childhood Admissions and Family Programs

MS Ed., Waldorf Education, Sunbridge College; MS, Elementary Education, C.W. Post, Long Island University; B.A. English, College of Charleston

Prior to teaching, Lisa worked as a Personnel Administrator for seven years. She began her teaching in a public school before becoming a Waldorf early childhood teacher in 2001. She was a kindergarten teacher at Mountain Laurel Waldorf School, and a nursery teacher at Dayspring Community School before joining Green Meadow as a kindergarten teacher. Inspired by the growing number of families seeking Parent & Child programs for babies and toddlers, she recently began her birth-to-three training at Sophia’s Hearth in Keene, NH, and teaches our growing Parent & Child classes. She is Co-chair of the Early Childhood Section and a member of the Collegium. She serves on the Communications and Marketing Committee and the Envisioning Group. Lisa enjoys both research and writing, and authored Eingefallen and Rabbit Holes (Sept./Oct. issue of Sunbridge College Online News).  She is continually inspired by her work with parents, her observations of the children, and her experience as a part-time teacher in the early childhood training at Sunbridge Institute.  As the mother of two boys at Green Meadow, she often attends school basketball, baseball, and soccer games, and enjoys playing doubles beach volleyball with her husband.

 

Linda Miller, Finance Administrator

BA, Business and Philosophy, and MSW, New York University

Before coming to Green Meadow in 2008, Linda worked at Sunbridge College for 10 years. She serves as Board Treasurer for the Christian Community Church and serves on the Green Meadow Finance Committee.

Linda enjoys the study of Greek and Roman history, anthroposophy, and the Bible. She likes classical music, playing the piano, and gardening. 

 

  

 

 

Joanne Monteleone, High School Guidance and International Exchange Coordinator

BA, Therapeutic Recreation, Theatre, San Francisco State University; MA, Educational Theatre, Emerson College, Boston; MS, School Counseling, Long Island University

Joanne has worked as a Counselor, Theater Director, Drama Teacher, and Recreation Therapist for the past 24 years.  She began her career in San Francisco, working as a Recreation Therapist in both educational and clinical settings with various populations, including youth at risk, brain injured patients, and AIDS patients.  Her work in the theater includes both professional and academic directing credits, with plays produced at Manhattanville College, Manhattan College, and Ramapo College, where she also worked as an adjunct professor, teaching classes in all areas of drama and speech communication. She has also worked as an assistant editor on Youth Theatre Journal and has co-authored drama education curricula for young adolescents.

After completing extensive internships in guidance counseling at Suffern Middle School and Spring Valley High School, Joanne received her Master's degree in school counseling in May 2010. She is an active member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) and the Westchester, Putnam, Rockland County Association of Guidance Counselors (WPRCA).

Joanne is the Chair of the Green Meadow Drug and Alcohol Committee and oversees the senior internships and Senior Projects. Joanne looks forward to continuing her study of anthroposophy.

 


 

Helen Morgan, High School Registrar

BA, Communications, Temple University; MPS (Teaching) English as a Second Language, Manhattanville College

A member of the Green Meadow staff since 1997, Helen helps manage the Yearbook and Senior Projects. Her children are alumni of the school.

Bill Pernice, Director of Development

Bill started his Waldorf career in 1986 at Sunbridge Institute, in the Teacher Training. He then taught as the founding Kindergarten teacher for four years at Dayspring, a Waldorf Kindergarten in Warwick, NY. In 1994, Bill left his work in the Kindergarten to join Green Meadow’s faculty as a music teacher. For almost two decades, Bill taught fifth through twelfth grade band and High School chorus, before becoming Green Meadow’s Director of Development in spring 2011. In addition to his work in Waldorf schools, Bill has been the Musical Director for high school musical productions at public schools and community theatres in Orange County, NY.  He is also a pianist, working professionally in the tri-state area and beyond. Bill attended the State University of New York at Fredonia, where he studied music.

 


 

Deborah Renna, Lower School Educational Liaison

BA, Elementary Education, Westminster College; Early Childhood Training, Sunbridge College; MS Ed., Special Education, College of New Rochelle; coursework in Remedial/Therapeutic Education and Waldorf Collaborative Counseling

Deb taught special education in the Ridgewood (NJ) public schools for four years before coming to Green Meadow in 1996. Originally a member of the Kindergarten faculty, she now holds the position of Educational Liaison. Among her responsibilities are helping to identify, track, and coordinate support for Lower School students requiring additional academic or social support, coordinating student testing arrangements, and coordinating the school doctor’s visits to the classrooms.  Deb also serves as chair of the Care Group.  Her two children are Green Meadow alumni.

 


 

 

Joan Sandstrom, Lower School Registrar

BA, Sociology, Boston University

Joan’s background is in residential land development and real estate sales management; she also spent several years managing a retail decorative kitchen and bath showroom.  A member of the Green Meadow staff since 2004, she serves on the Hospitality Committee.  Her interests include the Fellowship Community and anthroposophy, nineteenth-century British literature, and architecture (especially that of Sarah Susanka).  Her son and daughter are Green Meadow graduates.

 


 

 

 

 

Jeanne Schirm, School Nurse

BA, Social Work; AA, Nursing

Jeanne has an extensive background in the medical and social work fields, including years spent as a public school and homecare nurse, respiratory therapist, American Red Cross instructor, phlebotomist, and EKG technician. Her main interest is alternative medicine. For a number of years, Jeanne has taught the Homecare Course, based on the principles of anthroposophic medicine, and has also have taught Holistic First Aid, combining the best of Western medicine, homeopathy, natural medicine, and anthroposophical medicine. A Reiki Master Practitioner and teacher, Jeanne’s other interests include gardening (including biodynamic), music (flute and recorder), and art, especially drawing.

 

Eric Silber, Business and Operations Manager

Eric Silber joined the Green Meadow board as Treasurer and chair of the finance committee in 2010. He and his wife Anna, a former teacher and staff member at Green Meadow, are the parents of one child in the school and another entering soon. Eric has worked in the management services industry for the last 20 years, most recently with ARAMARK Corporation, as a Resident District Manager responsible for the dining program at New York University. He joined the Green Meadow staff, as Business and Operations Manager, in August 2012.

Tari Steinrueck, Administrator

Tari Steinrueck, Green Meadow’s Administrator, is a graduate of the Highland Hall (CA) Waldorf School, the Eurythmy Spring Valley four-year training, and the Waldorf Early Childhood training of Sunbridge College. She has been at Green Meadow since 1999.  During her tenure, she has been the coordinator of the international exchange and visiting student program, the High School Chair, Chair of the Teacher Development Committee, and Green Meadow’s primary delegate to AWSNA, as well as a member of the Collegium and Collegium Committee.  Tari was recently named to the Pedagogical Section Council of the Anthroposophical Society. Tari has two daughters in the school and her eldest daughter is a recent alumna.

 

 


Ray Volpe, Head of Maintenance

BA, Biology, Manhattan College

Before Ray became a union carpenter, he was a professional guitarist and a recording engineer in New York City. He joined the Green Meadow staff in 2010. Ray is the parent of two Green Meadow graduates and, in his spare time, is an avid golfer.
