Jordan Seavey, Band and High School Chorus

BM Music Education, University of Southern Maine; Foundation Studies in Anthroposophy and the Arts, Antioch University New England

A classical pianist, conductor, and music educator, Jordan began studying piano at age 7. Prior to joining the Green Meadow faculty, he served for six years as director of music at Merriconeag Waldorf School in Freeport, ME, where he taught choral, instrumental, and classroom music in Grades 1-12. As a pianist, Jordan has balanced performing and teaching, maintaining a busy private piano studio for 10 years in the Portland, ME area. As a singer, he has toured Austria, Italy, and France with the USM Chamber Singers.

Jordan was born and raised in Maine and enjoys cooking, camping, downhill skiing, and golf, and serves as the co-advisor to the Class of 2018.  

Jacqueline Stern, Orchestra

BM, Music Education, Ithaca College; MM (performance), Manhattan School of Music.

Jackie has been teaching at Green Meadow since 1996.  She teaches the Lower School and High School Orchestras, the 3rd grade ‘cello class, private ‘cello students and Music History, as well as an after-school chamber music club.  She is chair of the Music Committee and serves on the Collegium and the Festival Committee.  

An active orchestral and chamber musician, Jackie plays in the trio “Terzetta” and the Stamford Symphony, among other ensembles. She conducts the Westchester Junior Strings, and is a certified teacher in the Suzuki and Mark O’Connor string teaching methods. She enjoys reading, baking, hiking and biking, and is a cantor at her place of worship.

Karen Tallman, Pianist

BA, Music, Douglass College of Rutgers University.

 

Karen has been a member of the Green Meadow teaching staff since 1983 and has written, arranged, and performed music for eurythmy classes, class plays, and festivals. She often accompanies student instrumentalists at recitals and assemblies, and she is an active member of the Festival Committee. Karen is also a passionate knitter and loves long-distance travel.

Anna Teigen, 3rd Grade Violin and Viola, 4th Grade Orchestra

BM, Music Education, University of Wisconsin, Madison; Suzuki Teacher Training, School for Strings, NYC.

Anna is the conductor of the Rockland Conservatory String Orchestra and is Co-Director of the Suzuki Program at the Rockland Conservatory of Music.

Esther Tsai-Van Ness


Master's degree in Music from California State University, Los Angeles; additional studies at UCLA. 

Esther Tsai-Van Ness has joined our staff after years of experience as Eurythmy Accompanist at the Waldorf School in Pasadena, CA.  Esther is also an experienced church musician and concert accompanist.

Originally from Taiwan, Ms. Tsai-Van Ness came to New Jersey with her husband, noted pianist Paul Van Ness,  in 2007. They live in Midland Park with their daughter, Audrey.
