Parent-Child Program

Spring 2010 Semester

Our Parent-Child programs provide opportunities for parents of very young children to meet with one another and to interact with their children in a warm and nurturing setting. The spring semester begins the first week of February and runs through the end of May.

The Children’s Garden

Teacher-Led Classes that Invite Parents to Discover and Support their Children’s Unique Development and Unfolding Gifts

Children’s Garden play groups provide parents with opportunities to deepen their own intuitive knowledge about their children as they discover new ways of observing and caring for them.  While the children learn how to interact with their peers in a social setting, and explore such new physical skills as rolling, crawling, climbing and jumping, parents develop confidence in their children’s growing abilities and deepen their understanding of the type of play environment that safely invites children into self-directed play and strengthens healthy motor development.  Classes explore themes associated with the principles of Waldorf education, such as the care and protection of the senses, rhythms and routines, sleep, health, and nutrition.  Children’s Garden teachers facilitate discussions that invite parent participation and observation, while holding questions with an openness that supports and honors the parents’ own developing confidence and growing wisdom.  Play spaces are designed so that each age-specific play group is met with age-appropriate toys and challenges.

The Mothers Circle*

A Class that Introduces a Waldorf-Inspired Approach to Parenting
(*fathers welcomed, too!)

This parent-led class provides an inspiring and supportive environment for parents with very young children as they gather in a warm and nurturing home-like setting.  Friendships and a growing sense of community are nourished as families participate in simple home-making activities.  Children engage in creative play, while parents interact with other parents, explore seasonal crafts, and learn more about establishing simple rhythms and routines in the home.  The group leader may bring simple circle games and stories that nourish the children’s budding imaginations, while also offering opportunities for parents to learn more about the care and protection of the senses, rhythms and routines, sleep, health and nutrition.

The Mothers Circle Spring 2010 Class Schedule:

For parents and their children age 24-36 months
Thursday mornings / 11:00-12:30

Tuition and Registration

Tuition for each Parent-Child 14-week class is $300.  All enrollment forms must be accompanied by a non-refundable $50 deposit; parents will be billed by the Green Meadow business office for the remaining balance.

Registration is accepted on a first-come, first served basis. Because the Green Meadow Parent-Child program is growing in popularity, we regret that not all classes will have openings.   To inquire about class availability or to obtain an enrollment form, please contact Patricia Owens, Admissions Coordinator, at powens@gmws.org or 845-356-9715.

We thank you for your interest in our program.
