Spring 2010 Semester
Our Parent-Child programs provide opportunities for parents of very young children to meet with one another and to interact with their children in a warm and nurturing setting. The spring semester begins the first week of February and runs through the end of May.
The Children’s Garden
Teacher-Led Classes that Invite Parents to Discover and Support their Children’s Unique Development and Unfolding Gifts
Children’s Garden play groups provide parents with opportunities to deepen their own intuitive knowledge about their children as they discover new ways of observing and caring for them. While the children learn how to interact with their peers in a social setting, and explore such new physical skills as rolling, crawling, climbing and jumping, parents develop confidence in their children’s growing abilities and deepen their understanding of the type of play environment that safely invites children into self-directed play and strengthens healthy motor development. Classes explore themes associated with the principles of Waldorf education, such as the care and protection of the senses, rhythms and routines, sleep, health, and nutrition. Children’s Garden teachers facilitate discussions that invite parent participation and observation, while holding questions with an openness that supports and honors the parents’ own developing confidence and growing wisdom. Play spaces are designed so that each age-specific play group is met with age-appropriate toys and challenges.
