High School
The Green Meadow application process is designed to facilitate an exchange of information between the school and our prospective families. In order to help you learn more about Green Meadow, we offer a variety of admission events throughout the year, some designed just for parents and others for parents and students. These are wonderful opportunities to learn more about our philosophy, see our campus in action, and speak with our faculty and administrators. For a list of upcoming events, please go to Admissions Events.
1. Introductory Sessions
The first required step in the high school application process is for parents to attend an Introductory Session for Adults. These two-hour sessions include:
- An informative video presentation on Waldorf Education, much of which was filmed at Green Meadow
- A question and answer period with our administrator
- A tour of our campus
Our next Introductory Session will take place on Friday, February 23. To register for this event or to set up another time to visit, please contact Admissions Coordinator, Patricia Owens, at powens@gmws.org or 845-356-9715.
2. Application
An application may be submitted at any time. An application consists of:
- A completed application form with a recent photo of the student
- The $50.00 application fee (checks should be made payable to Green Meadow Waldorf School)
- A signed request for current school records and official transcripts (click here)
3. Application Review
Once the above materials have been received, the applicant's candidacy will be reviewed. Upon decision to proceed to the next step, parent/teacher interviews and student visits will be arranged.
4. Student Visit
Students applying for grades nine through eleven will be invited to visit high school classes for one day and meet with the class advisors.
Ninth grade applicants will also have the opportunity to spend a day with the eighth grade class.
Students will be asked to complete short placement exercises in math and in English.
5. Parent/Teacher Interviews
A meeting between parents and class advisors will be scheduled. It is recommended that both parents be present so that the advisors may gain a full picture of the student. Curriculum details will be shared and student expectations discussed.
6. Admissions Decision
Upon completion of all steps and receipt of official school transcripts, acceptance into the class is decided by the full High School faculty. The “right fit” is essential for the student, as well as for the class. Admissions decisions are communicated in writing to the parents.
7. Financial Arrangements
Following acceptance, the Business Office will contact parents to make financial arrangements for enrollment.
