Application Process

High School

The Green Meadow application process is designed to facilitate an exchange of information between the school and our prospective families.  In order to help you learn more about Green Meadow, we offer a variety of admission events throughout the year, some designed just for parents, and others for parents and students.  These are wonderful opportunities to learn more about our philosophy, see our campus in action, and speak with our faculty and administrators.  For a list of upcoming events, please go to Admissions Events.  In addition, student-led tours for prospective high school parents and/or students are available on Friday afternoons from 12:45-1:15. To register, please contact High School Registrar, Helen Morgan, at 845-356-2514, x309 or hmorgan@gmws.org.

1. Introductory Sessions

The first required step in the high school application process is an Introductory Session (for parents only).  These two- to two-and-a-half hour sessions include:

  • an informative DVD presentation on Waldorf Education, much of which was filmed at Green Meadow
  • a question and answer period with our Administrator
  • a tour of our campus

Our next Introductory Session will take place on Friday, February 12, beginning promptly at 9:00 am. To register for this event or to set up another time to visit, please contact Admissions Coordinator, Patricia Owens, at powens@gmws.org or 845-356-9715.

    2. Application

An application may be submitted prior to attending an Introductory Session, at the time of the session, or sent afterwards.  When applying for admission, please submit the following:

    • A completed application (click here) with a recent photo of the student
    • The $50.00 fee per applicant (checks should be made payable to Green Meadow Waldorf School)
    • A signed request for current school records and official transcripts

    3. Student Visit

After an application is submitted and the parent(s) have attended an Introductory Session, we will arrange for the student to visit our school.

    • Students applying for grades nine through eleven will be invited to visit high school classes for one day and meet with the Class Advisors.
    • Ninth grade applicants will also have the opportunity to spend a day with the eighth grade class.
    • Students will be asked to complete short placement exercises in math and in English.

    4. Parent Orientation

    • Parents will be called to meet with the Administrator to learn about essential school policies and guidelines. We suggest that both parents attend this meeting.

    5. Parent Interviews

    • A meeting between parents and Class Advisors will be scheduled.  It is recommended that both parents be present so that the advisors may gain a full picture of the student. Curriculum details will be shared and student expectations discussed.

    6. Admission Decision

Upon completion of all steps and receipt of official school transcripts, acceptance into the class is decided by the full High School faculty. The “right fit” is essential for the student, as well as for the class. Decisions are communicated in writing to the parents.

    Financial Arrangements

    • Following acceptance, parents will be expected to contact the Business Office (845-356-2514, x 315) to make financial arrangements for enrollment.
    • Parents should be sure to inquire about tuition refund insurance.

Green Waldorf School is committed to fostering a fully inclusive school community and welcomes students and staff of all cultural, racial, and religious backgrounds.
