Application Process

Lower School

The Green Meadow application process is designed to facilitate an exchange of information between the school and our prospective families.  We begin with a variety of informational admission events offered throughout the year for families to learn more about our philosophy, see our campus in action, and speak with our faculty and administrators.  For a list of upcoming events and dates, please go here.

1.  Introductory Sessions

Introductory Sessions for Adults provide an opportunity for parents to learn more about Green Meadow and Waldorf Education. Introductory Sessions are offered monthly and are the first required parental step in the application process.

These two-hour sessions include:

- An informative video presentation on Waldorf Education, much of which was filmed at Green Meadow
- A question and answer period with our Administrator
- A tour of our campus

Our next Introductory Session takes place Friday, January 14.  To register for this event or to set up another time to visit, please contact Admissions Coordinator, Patricia Owens, at powens@gmws.org or 845-356-9715.

2.  Application

An application may be submitted at any time.  An application consists of the following:

- A completed application form (click here) with a recent photo of your child
- A $50.00 application fee (checks should be made payable to Green Meadow Waldorf School)
- A signed request for current school records (click here)

3. Application Review

Once the above materials have been received, the applicant's candidacy will be reviewed.  Upon decision to proceed to the next step, parent/teacher interviews and student visits will be arranged.

4. Parent/Teacher Interviews

An interview will be set up with the parents and the class teacher.  It is recommended that both parents be present at this meeting so that the teacher may gain a full picture of the applicant while discussing details of the class and the curriculum.

5.  Student Visit

First grade applicants will be invited to visit a kindergarten class during playtime.

Children applying for grades two through eight will be invited to spend at least one day visiting the class to which they are applying.

6.  Admissions Decision

Acceptance into the class is decided by the full Lower School faculty. The “right fit” is essential, for the student as well as the class. Admissions decisions are communicated  to parents in writing.

Parents of incoming first graders will invited to a spring reception to meet the first grade class teacher.

7.  Financial Arrangements

Following acceptance, the Business Office will contact parents to make financial arrangements for enrollment.

Green Meadow Waldorf School is committed to fostering a fully inclusive school community and welcomes students and staff of all cultural, racial, and religious backgrounds.
