Green Meadow's Campus

11 acres of wooded campus surround our students in nature every day.

Our Campus

Green Meadow Waldorf School’s campus in Chestnut Ridge resembles a small village. The campus includes six instructional buildings on 11 acres, with ample playgrounds and athletic fields.

Our extended community is comprised of 200 adjacent acres for our families’ use, offering a beautiful rural environment of forests and fields, and providing opportunities for our students to bring their curriculum to life by connecting classroom lessons to real-world experiences. Kindergarteners feed chickens and gather eggs; third-graders milk cows and harvest biodynamic crops; sixth-graders sow seeds and tend the garden.

The location

A Suburban School with City Resources, in a Natural Setting

Our proximity to New York City (only 20 miles north of the George Washington Bridge) and the natural beauty of the Hudson Valley and the rest of New York State enable our students to enjoy the best of both worlds. Our location in Rockland County, NY, offers easy access to all kinds of class trips, ranging from one day to one week, to city museums and historical sites as well as beautiful state parks where students camp, hike, stargaze, and immerse themselves in the wilderness.

Local community resources include Threefold Community, The Fellowship Community, The Threefold Community Farm, Eurythmy Spring Valley, The Hungry Hollow Co-op, The Fiber Craft Studio, and Sunbridge Institute. We also encourage support for local businesses.

OUR COMMUNITY RESOURCES

Threefold Educational Foundation

In 1926, several New York City friends who called themselves the Threefold Group bought a farm in Spring Valley, NY, and set about creating a living community of practical work inspired by the teachings of Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925). The project they began almost 100 years ago continues to this day in the work and life of the Threefold community and Threefold Educational Center, a home and incubator for programs and institutions, a steward of land and facilities, a provider of services and amenities, and a physical home for kindred institutions.
