George Wichelns

Farm Kindergarten Support Teacher

George has been a stay at home dad since 2015. Before this he worked for two years in the READ lab, a Psychology research lab at Hunter College that works to identify and develop treatment for maladaptive anxiety and depression, and he interned at the Lenox Hill Hospital inpatient psychiatric unit. He worked for six years at YAI-NIPD, an institution devoted to integrating adults with learning and mental health challenges into the broader New York City community.

George (and his family) were inspired to transfer their daughter to Green Meadow after she attended a summer program at the Farm. He and his partner witnessed her positive physical and emotional transformation there. In 2021 George, with the help of the teachers and farm children, mended the chicken coop to keep out foxes, and he also began assisting with teaching.
