How long have you been at Green Meadow?

I have attended Green Meadow for 13 years. I started in kindergarten.

Where do you imagine you'll be in five years?

In five years, I see myself working as a midwife in another country. Hopefully!

What do you appreciate most about your education?

What I appreciate most about my education is how my teachers have been able to keep me interested in so many different subjects and activities. I love painting, fine arts, playing sports, cello, literature, Spanish, and human biology.

I love that everyone at Green Meadow is very well rounded, and not afraid to try new things.

What would you tell a prospective student about coming to Green Meadow?

You learn a lot at Green Meadow and you have to be prepared to focus. However, it's never boring. In every grade there are class trips, projects, singing, dancing, hiking, and games incorporated into your schedule!

CLASS OF 2017

How long have you been at Green Meadow?

I’ve been at Green Meadow since third grade. Before that I spent a year at public school in Rye, NY, and kindergarten and first grade at a private school in San Rafael, CA.

Where do you imagine you'll be in five years?

In five years, I hope to have just graduated college, be performing stand-up comedy, and possibly be going to graduate school. If my senior project goes well, I hope to have published a successful novel and possibly have another on the way. My dream job would be to be a writer for a comedy show, something like "SNL."

What do you appreciate most about your education?

I am so grateful that my parents were able to send me to a Waldorf school because here we are not only taught all the important academic subjects, but also taught how to learn, think for ourselves, and express our ideas in a creative and unique way. These are valuable skills that we can use throughout our lives, no matter what profession we end up going into.

What would you tell a prospective student about coming to Green Meadow?

I was unsure whether or not I wanted to continue my Waldorf education in high school. I was worried that it wasn’t going to be academically challenging. I begged my parents to let me look at some other schools before we made the final decision. They agreed, and we visited a few schools, both public and private, but something was missing in all of them. When I looked at the other schools, the choices offered required me to exclude many disciplines by having to choose math over music or chemistry over art. Although occasionally this happens at Green Meadow, it happens to a much lesser extent. The arts have always been integrated into everything we do and are considered equally as important as the basics of history, math, science, English, and language.

How long have you been at Green Meadow?

I've been at Green Meadow for three years. Before Green Meadow, I attended a small private school in Manhattan. Classes were quite similar to Green Meadow, though the atmosphere and community were not the same.

Where do you imagine you'll be in five years?

I definitely see myself graduating college in four years and most likely continuing on to getting my master’s. Hopefully, after that I will attend law school!

What do you appreciate most about your education?

One of the aspects I appreciate the most about Waldorf Education is the learning environment. In class, every single student is interactive and included in all discussions; also, every student gets the individual attention they need from a teacher. Another aspect I enjoy is that no matter what class you take, there is always a way it is connected to the Earth and the environment around us.

What would you tell a prospective student about coming to Green Meadow?

All I can say is that you'll look at the world differently the minute you start school here, and that you'll find a new appreciation for learning and the Earth.

CLASS OF 2018

How long have you been at Green Meadow?

I've been at Green Meadow for two years, starting in ninth grade. I will be graduating from Green Meadow too. My previous school was a large international school in Beijing.

Where do you imagine you'll be in five years?

I expect I will be graduating college.

What do you appreciate most about your education?

I enjoy the diversity of subjects that are taught. I like the fact that we can go from math class to hammering metals or creating a floor mat within a short time period. Also, all of the teachers are easily approachable and willing to help.

What would you tell a prospective student about coming to Green Meadow?

I would tell the person to enjoy the student body (everyone is incredibly friendly) and to enjoy classes, because they’re both instructive and interactive.

CLASS OF 2018

How long have you been at Green Meadow?
I have attended Green Meadow since I was in kindergarten.

Where do you imagine you'll be in five years?
My mother is hoping the answer is “alive”, but I would like to see myself exploring the world of art. I’ll be working in the arts, but exactly where I cannot say as many paths of art intrigue me.

What do you appreciate most about your Waldorf Education?
The dress code has kept me on the straight and narrow… but Green Meadow has offered me an opportunity to discover myself in all my abilities, as a creative, cognitive and social student.

What would you tell a prospective student about coming to Green Meadow?
The Lower School was like growing up in a wonderland, and as a child it gave me a holistic base in education and a strong connection with nature. The high school is a far more intense experience, but the broad curriculum is both fascinating and formative. If you can persevere, it’s well worth it.

I appreciate how Waldorf Education has made me feel safe to be completely myself. The way we learn is unique and really helps you reach deep and have some fun at the same time.

What would you tell a prospective student about coming to Green Meadow?

To a prospective student I'd say: you're going to meet so many wonderful people at Green Meadow and make many lasting friendships. You will learn so much in the classroom and through some great hands-on experiences. Get ready to answer the question, "What is eurythmy?"
