Meet Our Students

Our students come from about 90 towns in 13 counties, including Rockland, Westchester, Orange, and Putnam in New York; Bergen, Essex, Passaic, and Hudson in New Jersey; Fairfield in Connecticut; and Manhattan and the Bronx in NYC. (We will offer NYC busing beginning in September 2019.) We also host international students from around the world.

When they graduate, our students go on to great schools (click to see College Acceptance and Matriculation Lists) and are sought-after for their confidence, creativity, and curiosity.

How long have you been at Green Meadow?

I have been a student at Green Meadow since Parent & Child Class.

Where do you imagine you'll be in five years?

I see myself in five years studying at a university, after traveling and learning about different cultures.

What do you appreciate most about your education?

I appreciate how Waldorf Education has made me feel safe to be completely myself. The way we learn is unique and really helps you reach deep and have some fun at the same time.

What would you tell a prospective student about coming to Green Meadow?

To a prospective student I'd say: you're going to meet so many wonderful people at Green Meadow and make many lasting friendships. You will learn so much in the classroom and through some great hands-on experiences. Get ready to answer the question, "What is eurythmy?"

How long have you been at Green Meadow?

I have been here since Kindergarten, so about 14 years.

Where do you imagine you'll be in five years?

In college.

What do you appreciate most about your education?

My ability to be objective in situations where it is hard to be objective, in situations where people are usually very closed minded.

What would you tell a prospective student about coming to Green Meadow?

I would tell them that Green Meadow is a community. Also, as Green Meadow is a liberal arts school, they will take classes that involve both arts and sciences. Here, they will not be pressured into a career that they do not enjoy but are “good at.”

How long have you been at Green Meadow?

I began in grade five, so I’ve been here eight years.

Where do you imagine you'll be in five years?

I’ll either be traveling to the world’s whitest peaks (I’m a Canadian on the lookout for snow) or hunkering down for finals at university.  I’ll definitely be having fun, though.

What do you appreciate most about your education?

I like that I didn’t have to focus on just one thing. My education let me develop my whole body; while I took honors physics, I also loved metalwork, clay, and musicals. People often ask me how I "know so many things," like how to fix things, or troubleshoot. I think it’s just how we learn here.

What would you tell a prospective student about coming to Green Meadow?

I’d tell them that at Green Meadow there is a unique opportunity to find your niche. The teachers really care about you and help you find, and follow, your passions.  You leave feeling like you can do whatever you want.

How long have you been at Green Meadow?

Since Nursery.  So, this is my 14th year at Green Meadow.

Where do you imagine you'll be in five years?

I expect I’ll be in college but there’s a possibility that I would be somewhere I can’t predict.

What do you appreciate most about your education?

I appreciate how this education gives me an opportunity to explore the space between the “truth” of myself and the outer world that is often hidden by prejudice.

What would you tell a prospective student about coming to Green Meadow?

I would suggest this education is for everyone, but especially for those who believe in individuality.  Although it is an distinct education filled with unique people, it is worth a lot to place yourself in this particular world. Keyword: Eurythmy.

What do you appreciate most about your education?

I would tell them how nice everyone is and that it is a guarantee that you will make lifelong friends. The teachers are always very supportive and can always help in many ways. Definitely come, it is a very unique and fun education!

How long have you been at Green Meadow?

I have been a student at GMWS since I started coming here for Kindergarten, close to 10 years.

Where do you imagine you'll be in five years?

I’ll probably be in college...studying chemistry. I’ve always been interested in what makes up everything and how it works. But it’s tough to say because I really like history also. I like knowing what has brought us to where we are now, and maybe I will figure out what has been forgotten.

What do you appreciate most about your education?

I guess what I appreciate is that you not only just read about things or learn basic facts. You get the chance to be taught through experiences like visiting historical sites, recreating experiments in science, and using art as a means to bring your work to life.

Since we basically have the same class makeup from 1st thru 8th grade, it seems we are more a family than a group of students and we’ve had a lot of shared experiences with one another, which is pretty special.

What would you tell a prospective student about coming to Green Meadow?

I would probably tell them that you feel very welcome and accepted at our school from the very beginning.  It is hard to explain what creates this feeling but it seems as if the teachers teach us to be kind and open-minded and helpful which helps motivate us to learn.

What do you appreciate most about your education?

At Green Meadow, I appreciate most the amount of individual support I get from my teachers and peers.

What would you tell a prospective student about coming to Green Meadow?

I would tell prospective students considering Green Meadow that, from day one, this is a welcoming and friendly environment. I’d also tell them that they are investing in unique skills such as painting, woodworking, and a instrument of your choice, that you will have for years to come.
