About Us

Green Meadow is an independent Nursery-12th grade school, located in Rockland County, NY on a pastoral campus, which includes a school farm, woodlands, and meadows. Celebrating our 71st anniversary this year, we are committed to in-person learning, providing our students with opportunities for outdoor education and to learn within an inclusive community that reflects the diversity of NY state.

Applicants should have an interest in and previous understanding of Waldorf pedagogy and its background in anthroposophy (Waldorf certification is required for many positions). We are looking for flexible, enthusiastic colleagues with a sense of humor, who will participate wholeheartedly in the life of the school. Our school encourages professional development through mentoring by master teachers and support for attending conferences and courses.

Successful applicants will be joining a vibrant faculty and be able to partake of the benefits of an established anthroposophical community in suburban New York. Chestnut Ridge is about 20 miles from the cultural offerings and diversity of NYC and close to large state parks. Our school contains an enlivening mix of seasoned, maturing, and newer teachers. The overall enrollment of our school is around 220 students. Green Meadow is accredited by AWSNA and NYSAIS.

Class Teacher

We are seeking a joyful, warm, and energetic Class Teacher who is a true team player and would like to become a Waldorf teacher. We are devoted to bringing to our students a rigorous artistic curriculum with a commitment to land stewardship and outdoor education on our beautiful 140 acres campus of woodlands, forest, meadows, and streams. 

Green Meadow Waldorf School has an outstanding, collaborative faculty of class teachers and special subject teachers who foster a spirit of innovation, are committed to Waldorf pedagogy, love our students, and practice anthroposophy. Our circle of teachers work together to provide a strong foundation for our lower school. We have an excellent, multi-faceted student support program to identify learning differences and support students as needed.  

Job requirements include a four-year college degree, Waldorf teacher training, Waldorf teaching experience and/or other teaching experience, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a spirit of collaboration. We welcome teachers in training to apply for an internship

The Green Meadow Waldorf School was founded in 1950 and serves students in parent-child through twelfth grade. Our beautiful school is located on a 140 acre campus that includes a farm, forests, streams, and gardens. Assistant to Class Teacher

We are seeking a class teacher assistant, committed to the ideals of Waldorf education, who would like to become an active member of our vibrant Waldorf community.

An assistant to the class teacher is a second set of hands in a very active classroom, providing support for students with artistic, academic, and movement skills.

A spirit of collaboration and willingness to work with a lead teacher is essential. We especially welcome teachers in training to apply or individuals with an interest in Waldorf Education who have other teaching experience.

Assistant Director of Admissions

Now accepting applications for the position of Assistant Director of Admissions at the Green Meadow Waldorf School, located in Chestnut Ridge, NY. 

Salaried position, Full time, benefits included. 

Reports to: Director of Admissions

The major role of the Assistant Director of Admissions is to offer a compelling picture of the school and its philosophy of education to Early Childhood and First Grade prospective parents/guardians, as well as to facilitate the admissions process for each family. The Assistant Director of Admissions strives to enact processes that promote healthy enrollment across the admissions continuum from recruitment to retention.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus three years experience in Admissions and Enrollment or a related field

  • Direct teaching experience and/or experience with Early Childhood and early grades Waldorf pedagogy and/or knowledge of Waldorf education

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills 

  • Database management, analytics, and administration

  • Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a service-oriented environment

  • Availability some evenings and weekends 

  • Proficiency with student information systems and other databases (Ravenna, Google Suite, and Mailchimp preferred)

  • Team-oriented; collaborative working style
