About Us
Green Meadow is an independent Nursery-12th grade school, located in Rockland County, NY on a pastoral campus, which includes a school farm, woodlands, and meadows. Celebrating our 71st anniversary this year, we are committed to in-person learning, providing our students with opportunities for outdoor education and to learn within an inclusive community that reflects the diversity of NY state.

Applicants should have an interest in and previous understanding of Waldorf pedagogy and its background in anthroposophy (Waldorf certification is required for many positions). Chestnut Ridge is about 20 miles from the cultural offerings and diversity of NYC and close to large state parks. Our school contains an enlivening mix of seasoned, maturing, and newer teachers. The overall enrollment of our school is around 220 students. Green Meadow is accredited by AWSNA and NYSAIS.

GENERAL INFORMATION FOR FULL-TIME POSITIONS
Available Positions
Lower School Spanish Teacher 12 lessons/week
Green Meadow is seeking a 60% salaried Spanish language teacher to inspire and guide students through a lower school curriculum infused with art, music, movement, drama, history, culture, festivals, traditional food, social conventions of Spanish/Latin American cultures. Strong candidates should have a proven track record developing lesson plans and curricula based on an artistic and immersive experience in the Spanish language and cultures and an understanding of Waldorf pedagogy.
Strong candidates will possess an advanced degree in language teaching or a related field, Waldorf teaching experience, and will have lower school and/or middle school teaching experience. Candidates should demonstrate an ability to foster healthy, culturally sensitive, collaborative relationships with students, parents and colleagues.

Facilities Manager
Green Meadow Waldorf School seeks an experienced Maintenance Supervisor with responsibility for oversight of the School’s physical plant and campus grounds. This is a full time salaried position, reporting directly to the Director of Operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Hiring, supervising and evaluating facilities staff members, including one full time and seasonal hourly facilities staff, and contractor cleaning service.

Ensuring daily building and grounds readiness for school opening; as well as for special events, as needed.

Overseeing the work of the outside cleaning contractors and the internal maintenance team to ensure that the school’s buildings and grounds are clean, attractive and safe.

Processing all maintenance requests and/or work orders, both during the school year and over the summer, documenting completion of work.
-
Developing and implementing programs for regular building and campus maintenance and ongoing replacement of equipment.

Working with the Athletics Director to maintain all recreation/sports facilities and with the landscape contractor to upkeep the school’s community gardens.

Working with the Safety & Health Administrator, as well as any outside fire and safety contractors or agencies, to ensure the school’s ongoing compliance with all requirements.

Supporting campus safety initiatives, including daily building security and the regular review of the school’s Emergency Response Plan.

Assisting with set up, execution, and clean up for school-sponsored events, including Fall Fair, Benefit & Auction, Grandparents Day, Open Houses, Friendship Games, and Festivals.

Ensuring regular maintenance of all school vehicles, ensuring that activity vans are prepared for school sponsored trips and sporting events.

Providing oversight for any outside contractors performing maintenance and/or project work on behalf of the school, including capital and construction projects as designated by the Director of Operations.

Engaging with the faculty and staff community through participation in regular staff meetings, joining the Safety & Health Committee as needed, and partnering with the Controller and Administrator as needed.

Monitoring and managing the annual facilities budget, including tracking of expenditures versus both annual operating and capital improvement budgets.

Interfacing with regulators and inspectors and meet inspection schedules
Position Qualifications & Requirements:
The ideal candidates will possess the following professional background, skills and capacities:

5-10 years of experience in a facilities supervisory role, including construction or building maintenance;
-
Working knowledge of at least three trades – such as plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, or other mechanical;
-
Prior experience working in an educational setting is a plus;
-
Ability to work collaboratively and collegially with faculty, staff, and students;
-
Experience in supervising capital projects and/or overseeing contracted vendors;
-
Ability to respond to stressful, and potential emergency, situations in a calm, focused and timely way; and
-
Detail oriented with good interpersonal and communication skills.
