Our Students

Dive into the world of student life here at Green Meadow.

No matter the age of the child, a typical day for a Waldorf student follows a rhythm that breathes.

From quietly and attentively listening to a story in the Preschool or Kindergarten to participating in a critical discussion of Dante’s Inferno in the High School, there are moments during the day where students will be applying deep focus and concentration, or “breathing in”. Those moments balance “breathing out” activities like open-ended play, recess, games, and artistic classes like handwork, woodwork, metalwork, drawing, and painting. This dynamic rhythm optimizes learning, diminishes stress and fatigue, and allows the students to move through their day in a healthy way.

Our student population

Home away from home

Our students come from about 90 towns in 13 counties, including Rockland, Westchester, Orange, and Putnam in New York; Bergen, Essex, Passaic, and Hudson in New Jersey; Fairfield in Connecticut; and Manhattan and the Bronx in NYC. (We offer NYC busing.) We also host international students from around the world.

Our beautiful campus is a place where joyful human encounters abound, and where something is always happening: music lessons, students rehearsing a play, team practices, sports games, playdates at the pond or playground, parents gathering at Threefold Café, children riding bikes, artistic presentations, or community members walking our trails.

When they graduate, our students go on to great schools (see our College Acceptance Lists) and are sought-after throughout their lives for their confidence, creativity, kindness, and curiosity.
